flow and swirl
lead your life full
like a river in spring
rushing with mountain
snows melted in changed
season;
taste the salt
of seas and reason all
for a higher form: foam
air into mission: fly on
intuition that fruition will come
upon tuition payments scratched
together and made like batter
for a cake marbled brown,
circular flushes in yellow
sepia image of willows weeping over
dust kicked up in summer—
hush, fresh for fall
in-
to underground corridors
of subway riders percussing
on talking African
and Andean drums,
evoking whine of wind
in saxophone tones and
high pitches of Peruvian flute,
our dreadlocks gathered in large wool
hats and our glasses open
like round and closed eyes
to see the sounds write
the melody of fine;
surprise the ears
with a whoosh of water
turning time
