Penn Station Overlooked
By Jaime Roarty, Chris Palanca, George Nguyen and Arlise Leiby

Penn Station in Newark, opened in 1935, is more than a transit hub for passengers on the Newark municipal subway and New Jersey Transit, PATH and Amtrak trains.

Its Art Deco design defines both the grand architecture of the station and smaller gems that are easily overlooked.

Jaime Roarty, Chris Palanca, George Nguyen and Arlise Leiby photographed the great and small gems of Penn Station’s architecture in Nick Kline’s class at Rutgers-Newark. Posted January 2006.
